For the past 6 years, in his role as Director, Strategic Investments at Wichita State University, Alan has assisted many early-stage companies in the commercializing of new technologies. Examples of his success can be found in Shocker Composites—the world’s most efficient recycler of carbon fiber, SmartSky Networks—the world’s first 4G LTE network for aircraft, Molon Labe—the world’s first slide-slip airline seat and College Passports—the nation’s first pre-pay college application service.
Alan is viewed as an expert with early-stage companies and managing turnarounds with full P&L responsibility. In 2000 Alan founded one of the world’s first web-based analytics companies, Quantum. Within 24 months, Alan had gained many Fortune-500 clients and grown revenues from zero to nearly $5MM. He led all aspects of company management, building a winning sales team and highly loyal customers. After receiving multiple buy-out offers, Alan negotiated the sale of Quantum to a publicly-traded company only 26 months after starting it. He remained company President of the firm for an additional 5 years. During his tenure as company President Quantum experienced annual double-digit growth, zero employee turnover and nearly 100% customer loyalty.
The remainder of Alan’s background includes executive leadership roles at NIAR (National Institute for Aviation Research), Cessna Aircraft, where he was head of Global Marketing and Bausch & Lomb Pharmaceuticals
